You to throw

Is there a free darts scorer?

Yes, this one. Aim Darts runs in your browser, costs nothing, and asks for nothing before you play. There is no app to install and no account to create. The scoreboard at the top of this page is live; you can start a leg of 501 right now. Signing in is only how you keep a finished game and see your averages over time.

What this scorer does that the others do not

It records every dart, not every visit

Most scorers take a three-dart total and throw the detail away. Type 100 and they cannot tell you whether that was T20 D20 or five singles and a twenty. This one keeps the darts, which is what makes the rest of it possible.

It records what you were aiming at

Turn on call the target and tap what you are going for before you throw. The app then knows the difference between a miss and a bad miss, and after enough darts, which side of the treble you favour.

It will not guess

If you did not call a target, nothing is recorded for it. If you entered a visit as a three-dart total, the per-dart statistics say so and exclude it rather than quietly averaging over less. No accuracy claim appears until there are thirty darts behind it.

Maths mode, for learning to subtract at speed

Switch it on for one player and the app asks what they have left instead of showing it. Wrong answers cost nothing and never block the game: it shows the working and the leg carries on. It is how a nine-year-old learns to take 81 off 301 without noticing.

Every game, with the arguments settled first

Pub darts runs on house rules, and half of every game is spent arguing about them. Each game here puts its options on the table before the first dart, then locks them.

Cricket, Shanghai and Halve It are not playable yet, but the rules for all three are written up with every darts game and how it is scored.

It works in a cellar with no signal

Every dart is written to your own device first and synced afterwards. If the connection drops mid-leg, nothing stops and nothing is lost. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app, because it is one.
